In keeping with the theme of the month, Nicholas' preschool class hosted all the mommies for a Gingerbread Tea Party at 11:00 this morning. It's always fun to get a glimpse of how Nicholas acts with his teachers and classmates, and get a feel for the things he likes to do and play there. And did I mention they had cake?
The children had made and decorated two gingerbread cakes for us. Nicholas ate all of his frosting, sprinkles and gumdrops and most of the cake. I intended to share mine with Charlotte, but instead she ate the entire piece (minus the gumdrops). That girl can put it away! (She's reaching for more in this picture!)

Nicholas loaded dishes in the washing machine. In case you were also wondering, I asked if they ever put clothes in it or use the dryer. No. They don't.
Nicholas really wanted Charlotte to sit next to him on the blue rug, where they do morning meeting and story time. Here we were waiting for our gifts! Over the course of the semester, each child had been asked to send in one recipe that was a favorite (we sent in Grandma Helen's Dutch Apple Pie), and the teachers created "Cats in the Kitchen" cookbooks for the moms with those recipes along with all the other things they've cooked and baked in the Cat class. The children all received books too (Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett) and homemade, personalized Rudolph aprons to continue their cooking adventures at home. So thoughtful! We love his school and his teachers!
