Spring Break 2014 - The Netherlands - Day 5

Tom went to the airport in the morning to pick up a rental car, then came to get us and the luggage at our hotel.  Off we went to Keukenhof in Lisse, which is billed as "the most beautiful Spring garden in the world".  It's only open for 8 weeks a year, and has 7 million flowering bulbs.  Tom and I had been years ago with our friends, the Aylwards, who were living in Belgium at the time, and really wanted to get back and show the kids.  It was just a bit early in the season for my absolute favorite thing from my first visit, a "river" of purple flowers flowing out of a forested area, but it was still spectacular.  And they'd added a petting zoo...and a zipline!

Once we had seen the garden, we hopped back in the car and headed for Efteling, a Dutch amusement park about 90 minutes south of Amsterdam.

On the way we saw many windmills "in the wild".  :)

We checked into our hotel just in time for evening story time.  From this guy (the Sandman maybe??).  In Dutch.  I'm sure it made a ton of sense to all the kids listening, but not to my tired ones.  So off to bed to rest up for a big day at the park tomorrow.
